Jack Lemmon

Hayatı

Harvard Üniversitesi'nde okurken tiyatroyla ilgilendi. ABD Deniz Kuvvetleri'nde askerliğini yaptıktan sonra New York şehrindeki gece kulüplerinde piyano çaldı. Radyo oyunlarında rol aldı ve tiyatro oyunculuğu yaptı. 1954'te, başrollerini Judy Holliday'le paylaştığı It Should Happen to You filmiyle sinema oyunculuğuna başladı. Ertesi yıl yardımcı erkek oyuncu Oscar'ını kazandığı Mister Roberts filmiyle ün kazandı. 1966'da The Fortune Cookie'de birlikte oynadığı Walter Matthau ile başarılı bir ikili oluşturdu. 1973'te Save The Tiger filmiyle en iyi erkek oyuncu dalında Oscar kazandı. 1979 tarihli China Syndrome ve 1982 yapımı Costa Gavras'ın yönettiği Missing filmleriyle Cannes Film Şenliği'nde iki kez en iyi erkek oyuncu seçildi. Sinema hayatı boyunca yedi kez en iyi erkek oyuncu Oscar'ına aday gösterildi.
