Piteas

Piteas (Grekçe Πυθέας, Pythéas; d. MÖ 380; ö. MÖ 310 civarı) Yunan coğrafyacı, denizci ve kâşif.

Büyük İskender Asya Seferini gerçekleştirdiği esnada, Piteas Avrupa'da Avrupa'nın kuzeybatısını araştırmaktaydı. Okyanusun üzerinden (Grekçe: Περὶ τοῦ ᾿Ωκεανοῦ Perì toũ Okeanoũ) isimli gezi yazısı günümüze ulaşmasa da, Strabon, Eratosthenes ve Gaius Plinius tarafından alıntılanmıştır.

Norveç'e dek seyahat ettiği düşünülen Piteas, ulaştığı bölgelerde güneşin batmadığını yazdığı için Polibios gibi bazı antik yazarlar tarafından yalancı atfedilmiştir.
