Thomisidae, bütün dünyada yaygın 174 cins ve 2042 tür [1] ile temsil edilen benzerliğinden dolayı yengeç örümceği adıyla da anılan örümcek familyası.

Familya teşhis karakteri (Türkiye için) : Ön ve arka orta gözler dikdörtgen oluşturur, I. ve II. bacaklar önce yana, sonra öne doğru uzanmış, eşit uzunlukta ve III. ve IV. bacaklardan daha uzundur[2].

Morfoloji

Görünüşleri yengeci andırdığından ve yana hareketlerinden dolayı yengeç örümcekler olarak adlandırılırlar. Kendilerini kamufle ederek avlanırlar. Bulundukları ortamın rengine adapte olarak değişik renklerdedir. Başın lateralinde gözler geniş bir görüş açısı sağlar. Bu örümceklerin büyük bir kısmı çiçekli bitkiler üzerinde bulunur. Ön iki bacak oldukça gelişmiştir. Opisthosoma çeşitli şekillerde olup daha çok daire ya da ovaldir.[2].
