"Bond kızı" olarak tanınan Jane Seymour, İngiltere'de "The Arts Educational School"'da sanat eğitimi aldı. Meslek yaşamına 1969 yılında Richard Attenborough'un yönettiği Oh! What a Lovely War adlı sinema filminde küçük bir rolle başladı. Kısa bir süre sonra filmin yönetmeninin oğlu Michael Attenborough ile evlendi. 1970 yılında ilk önemli rolünü, bir nazi dramını anlatan The Only Way adlı oyunda aldı. 1972 yılından itibaren televizyon filmleri ve dizilerde görünmeye başladı. "Bond kızları" listesinde ilk sırada yer aldı[1]. 1973'te eşinden ayrıldıktan sonra tv dizilerinde oynamayı sürdürdü. 1984 yılında Lassiter adlı filmde kamera karşısında soyunan Seymour, Playboy dergisinde kapak oldu.

Bir film çekimi için gittiği İspanya'da geçirdiği bir alerjik reaksiyon nedeniyle aldığı antibiyotik ilaçlar yüzünden ölümden döndü[2]. Oyunculuğa bir süre ara veren sanatçı, 2005 yılında yeniden mesleğine başladı. Jane Seymour, dört evlilik yaşadı, özel hayatında çocuk cinsel istismarını önleme çalışmalarında aktif olarak yer aldı, 2 Aralık 2008 tarihinde, Christopher ve Dana Reeve Vakfı tarafından engelliler için yaptığı çalışmalar nedeniyle ödüllendirildi.
