Liseyi bitirdikten sonra şarkı söylediği müzik topluluğu ile Los Angeles'a gelen Cheryl Ladd, oyuncu olmaya karar vererek; 7 yıl süreyle tiyatro okulunda eğitim gördü. Hanna-Barbera'nın Josie and the Pussycats çizgi-dizisinde seslendirme yaptı. 1977 yılında Farrah Fawcett'in, günün popüler dizisi Charlie'nin Melekleri'nden ayrılması üzerine, onun yerine geçerek izleyici kitlelerince tanındı. 1994 - 1996 yılları arasında One West Waikiki adlı dizide oynadı. Kendisi gibi sinema oyuncusu olan David Ladd ile ikinci evliğini yürütmekte olan sanaçtı golf sporuna ilgi duymakta olup, Token Chick: A Woman’s Guide To Golfing With The Boys adlı bir kitap yazdı.
