Solanum elaeagnifolium, gümüş yapraklı itüzümü[1] yaygın bir bitkidir. Batı Kuzey Amerika ve ayrıca Güney Amerika'da bulunur. Bitki Orta Doğu'ya özgüdür.[2]

Tanım ve ekoloji

Çok yıllıktır. 10 cm[3] ila 1 m yüksekliğinde değişen boylardadır. Yapraklar ve gövdeler, yüzeye yaslanan ve yüzeyi gizleyen, gümüşi veya grimsi bir görünüm veren tüylerle (trikomlar) kaplıdır.[4]

Toksisite

Bitkideki metabolitlerin kan-beyin bariyerini bozduğu ve ivermektinin beyin ile omurilikteki nörotransmiter işlevine girmesine ve bozmasına izin verdiği düşünülmektedir.[5]
