Proteroctopus ribeti, yaklaşık 164 milyon yıl önce Orta Jura'da yaşamış olan ilkel bir ahtapottur. Bu türe tahsis edilen tek fosil örneği Fransa'daki Voulte-sur-Rhône Aşağı Kaloviyen'den gelmektedir. Şu anda Musée de Paléontologie de La Voulte-sur-Rhône'de sergilenmektedir.[1]

P. ribeti'nin morfolojisi necto-epipelajik bir yaşam tarzı önermektedir.
