Olivier Messiaen
Olivier Messiaen (d. 10 Aralık 1908, Avignon, Fransa - ö. 27 Nisan 1992, Clichy, Fransa), Fransız besteci, org çalıcısı ve ornitolojist. 20. yüzyılın en önemli klasik müzik bestecilerinden birisi olarak kabul edilmektedir.[1]

Oldukça karmaşık ritimlere sahip olan bestelerinin ritimleri Antik Yunan ve Hinduizm'den etkilenirken; harmonik ve melodik olarak da Modes à transposition limitée adını verdiği gamlardan etkilenmiştir. İnançlı bir Roma Katoliği olan Olivier Messiaen, inancı ile ilgili duygularını bestelerine de yansıtmıştır.[2]
