Nickelodeon (Japonya)

Nickelodeon, çocukları, gençleri ve yetişkinleri hedef alan bir Japon televizyon kanalıdır. Viacom Networks Japan KK'nin markasıdır. (Viacom'un Viacom Media Networks bölümünün bir yan kuruluşu). Kasım 1998'de kablo ve uydu televizyon kanalı olarak başlayan Viacom, Nickelodeon markasını Japon pazarına getirmeye çalıştı. Bununla birlikte, azalan görüntüleme yüzünden televizyon kanalı 30 Eylül 2009'da havaya kaldırıldı. Kanal kapatıldıktan sonra, bazı programlar diğer özel kanallara (MTV Japonya dahil), DTH uydu kanallarına ve karasal televizyon kanallarına taşındı. Yeni programlar ulusal televizyon prömiyerini diğer kanallarda yaptı: Örneğin, Madagaskar Penguenler, 4 Nisan 2010'da NHK Eğitim Televizyonu'nda ilk kez yer aldı. Nickelodeon'un programları, 1 Eylül 2010'dan itibaren SpongeBob SquarePants'dan başlayarak "NickTime" başlıklı bir televizyon dizisi altında Japonya'daki Animax'ta yayınlandı.[1]

Ekim 2017'de Viacom, 30 Ocak 2018'den itibaren Japonya'da markaya geri döndü. Şu anda yalnızca dTV-Kanalı (NTT Docomo'nun abone TV akış hizmeti) ve Hulu Japonya'da mevcut.[2][3]
