Hayatı
Dante Morristown, New Jersey'de doğdu. Kariyerine Roger Corman'ın yanında çalışarak başladı. 1978 yılında ilk filmi Piranha 'yı çekti. Ardından çektiği The Howling ile Steven Spielberg'in dikkatini çekti. Spielberg, Dante'ye Gremlinler filmini çekmesini teklif etti. Dante'nin yönettiği film büyük bir hit oldu ve devam filmi de çekildi. Bu filmi de Dante yönetti. İki filmde de özel efektler büyük bir sorun oldu.
Dante, karısı Sylvia ile Arkush'un Rock 'n' Roll High School konserinde tanıştı.
