Tampon bölge

Tampon bölge (İngilizce: buffer zone), düşman birlikleri, grupları ya da milletleri birbirinden ayırmak için oluşturulmuş ara bölge. Tampon bölgeler genellikle askerden arındırılmış bölgelerdir. Eğer iki taraf arasındaki tampon bölge bağımsız bir devletten meydana geliyorsa buna tampon devlet denir.

Çekoslovakya'da 1980'lerde bulunan bir tampon bölge işareti, yazıda ; "Dikkat! sınır bölgesidir. İzinsiz girilemez." yazmaktadır.

Tampon bölgeler, karşıt gruplar arasında şiddeti önlemek, çevreyi korumak, yerleşim birimlerini endüstriyel kazalardan ve felaketlerden korumak, tutukluların kaçarken rehine almasını veya saklanmasını engellemek gibi çok çeşitli amaçlarla oluşturulabilir.
