O. Henry Ödülü

O. Henry Ödülü (İngilizce: The O. Henry Award), öykü dalında ABD'de her sene verilen ödüldür. Ödülün ismi Amerikalı hikâye yazarı O. Henry'den gelir.

Ayrıca, her sene ABD ve Kanada'da çıkan edebiyat dergilerinde basılmış en iyi yirmi İngilizce öykünün derlendiği The PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories adında bir kitap derlemesi de vardır.

Tarihi

Ödül ilk kez 1919 yılında verildi. Ödül için gerekli sermayeyi Society of Arts and Sciences karşıladı.[1] 2012'den itibaren The PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories'in editörünün seçtiği yirmi öykü üç jüri üyesi tarafından değerlendiriliyor. Jüri üyeleri yazarın ya da öykünün yayımlandığı yayınevini bilmeden sadece eseri değerlendiriyorlar.

Şu anda serinin editörü Laura Furman'dır. Önceki editörler ise Blanche Colton Williams (1919–32), Harry Hansen (1933–40), Herschel Brickell (1941–51), Paul Engle (1954–59), Mary Stegner (1960), Richard Poirier (1961–66), William Abrahams (1967–96) ve Larry Dark (1997-2002) idi. 1952, 1953 ve 2004 yıllarında derleme yayımlanmadı.
